Advocacy Alert- Senate Bill 205 No Benefits for Illegal Aliens

This Wednesday, June 20th, House Committee Judiciary A will be hearing Senate Bill 205- No Benefits for Illegal Aliens.

This bill goes too far for our social workers employed by state agencies. In Section 64-11, Part D, the bill states that any state employee who fails to report an undocumented person can be fined with a Class 2 Misdemeanor. A supervisor could also be fined with a Class 2 Misdemeanor if their employee fails to report.

Please contact members of the committee and let them know this is NOT OK for our social workers. They should not be criminally charged for doing their job. A link to the bill can be found here- http://ncleg.net/Sessions/2011/Bills/Senate/HTML/S205v2.html
