House Bill 5: Temporary Funding Extension for Group Homes

A day before temporary funding runs out for group home residents, the House plans to extend money for the state to cover citizens in group homes. House bill 5 will be heard this morning in House Appropriations. It will then go to the floor. Bill sponsors are more worried about the Senate not taking action soon enough. NASW-NC is SUPPORTIVE of this legislation.

Contact Senator Phil Berger, President Pro Tempore of the NC Senate Phil.Berger@ncleg.net,  Rep. Thom Tillis, Thom.Tillis@ncleg.net Speaker of the NC House of Representatives and ask them to pass House Bill 5 to provide revenue that Group Homes will lose as a result of the personal care services (PCS) changes made in the last session of the Legislature. Read more about the issue from this WRAL article.

Also, please contact legislators from YOUR district! Let them know you are a constituent and this matters! You can find who represents you by clicking here.
